WINTER SEASON TRYOUT INFORMATION

Our winter season tryouts will be Nov. 12-14 for basketball, swim, and wrestling.  

You must have a current physical and other paperwork turned in to Athletics in B-4 before tryouts!

Basketball: 

Open Gyms: come meet the coaches and get a few workouts in prior to tryouts. This schedule goes through Nov. 8th:

 Boy's Basketball  3:30-5:00   3:30-5:00   3:30-5:00   3:30-5:00
 Girl's Basketball    5:30-7:00    5:30-7:00

Tryouts for Boy’s Basketball:      Nov. 12th: Freshmen and JV @ 8 - 10 am, VAR @ 10 am - 1 pm

                                    13-14th: Freshman and JV @ 6:00 am, VAR @ 3:30 - 6:00 pm

Tryouts for Girl’s Basketball:  Nov. 12th: @ 5:00 - 7:00 PM

                                 13-14th: 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Swim Team: 

Tryouts:  Nov. 12-14th: 3:45 - 4:55 @ East Portland Community Center. This will be the regular practice time for the season. Students must provide own transport or take TriMet. There is no practice bus available, sadly.

Wrestling: 

Workouts: Tu & Th from 3:45 -5:15 in the MHS Wrestling room through Nov. 8.

Tryouts:  Nov. 12-14th: 3:45 -5:15 in the MHS Wrestling room. This will be the regular practice time for the season.

Welcome to Madison Athletics!WANT TO RACE WITH THE EASTSIDE HIGH SCHOOLS SKI TEAM?

“Are you a skier?” If so, the Eastside High Schools Portland Alpine Ski Team is a great opportunity to improve your skiing, enjoy spending time with other like-minded kids, and promote responsibility, discipline, and dedication to your team. High school students from Cleveland, Franklin, Madison, Grant, and other high schools or private schools on the east side of Portland are eligible to ski on the club team. The program is a ski racing team, is open to skiers (intermediate and above) and has a strong tradition of supporting every member regardless of competitive placement.

Middle School students at Madison feeder schools, are you interested in participating in Portland Interscholastic League youth teams? Register by contacting the youth coach listed below by clicking on the sport name. 

WELCOME TO MADISON HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS!

Welcome to Madison Athletics. On our site you'll find resources necessary to compete for Madison High School. All players must be cleared BEFORE the first day of practice with a physical or update form, guidelines and policies contract, and a blue card present in the Athletics Office. You'll also find contact information for our coaches.  Go Senators!

How to be cleared to participate in Athletics at Madison:


1. A Physical Examination Form be on file in the Athletic Office (above the Gym stairs, in B-4, or front office). Physical Examination Form must be dated within two calendar years of Start Date. A link to this form can be found under the Registration Tab above. Or by clicking "physical" hyperlink.

2. Medical History Update Form. Students with physicals older than one calendar year from listed Start Date must fill out a Medical History Update Form. Students with Physical Examination Forms dated within the last calendar year DO NOT have to complete this form. A link to these forms can be found above under the registration tab, or by clicking "Medical History" hyperlink.. Please turn Medical History Update form into the athletic office in B-4.

3. Code of Conduct Form. Signatures are required from both athlete and parent/guardian. This only needs to be turned in once each year and is good for all sports during the school year. A link to this form can be found above under registration tab, or by clicking "physical" hyperlink.. Please turn Code of Conduct Form into the athletic office in B-4.

4. Athletes also need a Blue Emergency Card; A new Blue Card must be filled out for each sport during the school year. Signature is required from parent/guardian. You cannot participate in a tryout or practice unless the coach has your Blue Card in hand. They are not available online but can be found in the Main Office or on the desk outside the Athletic Office. Turn the Blue Emergency Card into the athletic office in B-4.


5. Pay the PIL Participation Fee after tryouts conclude for cut sports. The fee is $35 per sport. Please mark down student-athlete name and sport on memo section of check. Make check payable to Madison HS and turn into the Bookkeeper in room B-5. Do not turn into the athletic office

 

  SUMMARY:

  • Turn these into the athletic office:  Physical, Parent Consent, Code of Conduct, Medical History Update, Blue Card
  • Turn this into room B5: PIL fee (after tryouts)
  • Submit all forms by the Friday before the listed Start Date
